We are delighted to share a snippet from Index Magazine, where ACT were featured as the local "Charity of the Month" earlier this year.  ACT was established in 2012 by Tunbridge Wells couple, Alan and Annie Clarke, and is a grant making charity of last resort for those living in West Kent and Sussex. ACT is a small charity with only one part time employee to keep running costs to a genuine minimum. Alan explained: "We wanted to help those individuals and families that literally have nowhere else to turn for support. At ACT, we don't focus on any particular issue such as cancer or homelessness; for most of our applicants we are simply the charity of last resort...The Trustees review all applications rapidly, often within 24 hours, being mindful that the applicants are usually desperate." ACT Trustees, who give their time completely free, review all applications and organise and support fund raising activities which have included a wine tasting, jazz concert and earlier this year an inaugural charity golf day. Annie Clarke added, "since our formation, ACT has awarded over 500 grants, recently passing £250,000. We get wonderful feedback and thanks and know that in our small way we are making a real difference to peoples’ lives."
